Small actions can make a big difference — especially when it comes to protecting local wildlife.
At the Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch, feeding wildlife is only allowed in designated areas and with approved food items. To help protect the birds and their habitat, the town asks visitors to the preserve to follow these guidelines:
- Feeding is only permitted at Water Ranch Lake;
- Feed only the waterfowl (ducks, geese, etc.);
- Approved food includes bird seed, corn, oats and whole grain cereal like Cheerios;
- Feeding pigeons or any other wildlife is not allowed;
- Avoid overfeeding — too much food can make the birds sick, pollute the water and attract pests. A small handful is more than enough.
