Gilbert expands fingerprint background checks to include national records

People applying to work or serve in certain roles with the town of Gilbert can now have their fingerprints checked against national criminal history records under an update to the town’s background-check ordinance.

The change clarifies that Gilbert can submit fingerprints for state and national criminal background checks when evaluating current and prospective employees, contract employees, contractors and volunteers.

Under the revised Town Code, fingerprints may be submitted to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, which can exchange them with the FBI as part of a national criminal history check.
