Gilbert approves Headwaters age-restricted housing project

A vacant commercial site in Gilbert Town Square will be converted into a 181-unit apartment community restricted to residents 55 and older.

Gilbert Town Council approved a minor general plan amendment and rezoning Sept. 15 for Headwaters Gilbert, a 6.37-acre development west of Gilbert Road and Civic Center Drive.

The action changes the site's land-use designation from general commercial to high-density residential and its zoning from shopping center to multifamily/high.
