The town of Gilbert is moving forward with the acquisition of land to support drainage improvements along Mews Road, a project aimed at mitigating stormwater issues in the area.
The land acquisitions, discussed in a public hearing, are part of an Arizona Department of Transportation-led effort to improve air quality and reduce dust pollution. Gilbert Town Council unanimously approved the land acquisitions Feb. 11.
The land acquisitions are for three general drainage basins that will take stormwater drainage from the improved Mews Road area, Gilbert Public Works Director Jessica Marlow said.
