Chandler’s Hamilton High School was one of two sites to host a U.S. Navy recruitment event Jan. 24.
Valley Vista High School in Surprise was the other site where the U.S. Navy showcased its new ‘Strike Group’ multi-scenario, mobile mixed-reality experience, according to a news release.
The showcase, the release states, is designed to demonstrate the breadth and depth of Navy STEM careers. Through mixed reality, the “Strike Group” provides students with a fully immersive, hands-on look into the technology and teamwork that are central to every role in the Navy.
The ‘Strike Group’ comprises 3 distinctive, interactive challenges and experiences.
“All Hands” is where players will test their skills on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier in a five-person mixed-reality game. “Dive” is where players take on the role of a Navy diver, using undersea welding skills to help repair a damaged pier.
“Achieve” is a personality quiz that pairs students with a list of jobs best suited for them.
The Strike Group interactive experience is named after the Navy’s forward deployment formation, known as a carrier strike group.
The Navy currently maintains 11 carrier strike groups.
