Camp Invention, a national nonprofit summer enrichment program, is coming to some East Valley locations this year, including St. Mary-Basha Catholic School in Chandler.
The nonprofit's "Discover" camp takes place the week of June 9-13, with the "Wonder" camp the following week, June 16-20.
The camps cost $290 per child and are designed for children entering grades K-6. Grades 7-9 can also attend as "leaders-in-training " for the same fee.
A program of the National Inventors Hall of Fame in partnership with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Camp Invention challenges children to tap into their natural curiosity and use their creativity to solve problems.
Through hands-on activities, Camp Invention says, n a news release, that it promotes STEM learning, builds confidence, leadership, perseverance and resourcefulness; and encourages entrepreneurship in a fun and engaging environment.
Each year, the program features a new curriculum inspired by inventors who are National Inventors Hall of Fame inductees.
This year's "Discover" program encourages children to be confident in their ideas and explore their innovativeness through hands-on activities.
All local Camp Invention programs are facilitated and taught by qualified educators who reside and teach in the community. Camp Invention serves 140,000 students every year and partners with more than 2,600 schools and districts across the nation, the release states.
