The Chandler Unified School District Governing Board has officially launched a national search for the district’s next superintendent, according to a news release.
Superintendent Frank Narducci is retiring at the end of the current school year. To guide the superintendent search process, the Governing Board has partnered with Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates, a national education leadership search firm, to identifying outstanding potential applicants for the position.
“The selection of our next superintendent is one of the most important responsibilities our Governing Board holds,” Patti Serrano, CUSD board president, stated in the news release.
“We are committed to a transparent and inclusive process that reflects the priorities and values of our community. Our goal is to identify an exceptional leader who will continue advancing CUSD’s long-standing mission of empowering every student to achieve success in college, career, and life.”
The search process will include opportunities for staff, families, students, and other community members to share input that will help shape the leadership profile and desired qualities of the next superintendent, the district stated.
The release was sent out to media days after a planning meeting, in which representatives of the HYA firm giving an initial report. The board voted at an Oct. 8 meeting to select HYA from a field of competitive search-firm bids.
At an Oct. 22 regular meeting, the board narrowly voted to select a modified Google format for an upcoming community survey.
Details regarding community surveys, engagement opportunities, and key milestones will be shared in the coming weeks on the district’s website and through official communication channels, the district stated in the release.
The board anticipates gathering community input throughout Fall 2025 and announcing the new superintendent by February 2026; an HYA representative said Oct. 22 that there will be a Jan. 2 application deadline.
CUSD serves almost 40,000 students across 49 schools in most of Chandler and in parts of Gilbert and Queen Creek.
