Maricopa County kicks off growth plan update with Chandler meeting

Maricopa County is updating its comprehensive plan and will begin the process with a meeting Monday in Chandler.

The plan will be used to guide the county’s decisions on growth, development and preservation through 2040, according to a release.

The initial meeting will be from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. Dec. 2 at Arizona College Prep High School, 4477 S. Gilbert Road, Chandler.

Arizona law requires acounties to adopt and regularly update comprehensive plans that are consistent with state laws and other requirements and guidelines.

The plan addresses topics such as land use, water resources, energy, open space, growth, environment and the cost of development.
