Deadly wreck halted Loop 202 traffic on Oct. 5, police state

The Arizona Department of Public Safety stated Oct. 5 that a fatal collision occurred on Loop 202 in Chandler that morning.

DPS stated that at about 6:50 a.m. on Oct. 5, state troopers responded to a three-vehicle collision on westbound Loop 202 near milepost 46, just west of Cooper Road and east of McQueen Road.
A white pickup truck rear‑ended a white SUV, DPS stated, and following that impact, the same pickup truck rear‑ended another vehicle. The white pickup truck then rolled onto its roof.
Two patients were transported to a hospital; one patient was pronounced deceased at a hospital and the second sustained non‑life‑threatening injuries, the release states.
Westbound Loop 202 and the Cooper Road on‑ramp remain closed for hours as troopers continued the investigation, cleared the scene and worked to reduce the queue extending toward Val Vista Drive.
The investigation is ongoing, DPS stated. No mention was made about possible citations or charges.
