Hamilton High School student Manasi Vegesna was named one of the five finalists in the Genes in Space competition.
Genes in Space is an annual national contest wherein high school contestants propose DNA science experiments to run on the International Space Station.
One winner has their experiment carried out on the ISS.
The five finalists will present their proposals to a panel of judges at the ISS Research & Development Conference in Seattle on Aug. 2.
Judges will select a winning team and announce the result at the conclusion of the conference on Aug. 3.
The winner will prepare their experiment to be carried out on the ISS and will watch their experiment launch to space.
