Casteel High School’s Jentry Yard-Husk was recognized at the Aug. 21 Chandler Unified School District Governing Board meeting for her recent honor 2024 Outstanding Biology Teacher Award for Arizona from the National Association of Biology Teachers.
Yard-Husk, a product of Hamilton High School and other CUSD schools herself, said it was the teachers she knew, while growing up, who inspired her love of science and to go into teaching.
She said she loves the “light-bulb” moments when students understand important concepts.
As Arizona’s teacher of the year, Yard-Husk will be able to attend the NABT’s national conference in November in Anaheim, Calif.
