Chandler finds tenant for vacant office space

City of Chandler staff have found an occupant for a vacant building in a Price Corridor office complex.

The Mahoney Group, an insurance, risk management, and employee benefits brokerage, will move from a smaller Mesa office to 2625 W. Geronimo Place, according to a news release.

The release calls it a “new, modern office space,” that reflects the company’s continued growth.

A move-in-date for the new office will be in early March.

The new space spans 35,198 square feet — significantly larger than the company’s existing location in Mesa, according to the release — and will initially serve as home for 90 employees with room to accommodate close to 160 employees on a single floor.

Nationwide, The Mahoney Group employs 250 insurance people.

Designed by The Smith Group, the office uses natural woods, organic materials, walnut veneer accents, teal feature walls and caramel leather finishes.

Special features of the new location include a staff training room that seats 48, conference and huddle rooms, a break room and dining area, work stations with height-adjustable desks and a rooftop deck and barbecue are with unobstructed 360-degree views.

It wasn’t clear in the release if the space is part of the same one vacated when General Motors pulled up stakes in the fall of 2023 after about 10 years on-site. The closure of GM’s Innovation Center cost Chandler about 1,000 jobs.

“Financial services have long been a targeted industry cluster in Chandler,” Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke stated in the release. “We continue to see strong growth in this cluster throughout our community. We congratulate The Mahoney Group on their new home and look forward to building a strong relationship with them in the years to come.”

A grand opening event will be announced at a later time.

The Mahoney Group, established in 1915, serves clients across the U.S., providing insurance and benefits solutions for clients in the real estate, construction, and hospitality sectors, as well as for Native American tribes.
