The look and landscaping for a Take 5 vehicle-repair facility at the Lindsay Marketplace Shopping Center west of Lindsay Road on the south side of Broadway Road were discussed at a recent meeting of the Mesa Design Review Board.
The property is zoned limited commercial, Staff Planner Charlotte Bridges said at the board’s April 11 meeting.
“The site plan shows the construction of a 1,300-plus-square-foot building. It will have three service lanes and bays. Existing access is provided from the shopping center — there is an existing access directly to the west of the facility,” she said. “Four parking spaces are required for this project and four parking spaces are provided. And they did provide a shared-access, shared-parking agreement with the shopping center.”
The developer will be supplementing landscaping that is adjacent to Broadway Road, and providing trees and shrubs around the building’s perimeter, she said.
“The elevations are using a combination of stucco and block material,” Bridges said of the design.
Jesse Macias of M3 Design LLC is the applicant. BL Investors LLC is the owner.
Operating hours are to be 7 a.m.-8 p.m. at the business that has its customers wait in their vehicles for the five- to 10-minute oil change, Macias said in a written project narrative.
“We are proposing a modern theme, with main corner tower elements. Our bay doors are prefinished metal doors. We are proposing quality design with a cohesive color palette complementing existing development utilizing masonry wainscot and earthtone color palette with accent color,” it states.
The all-volunteer Mesa Design Review Board is unique in that its composition is set by the zoning ordinance to include two architects; two from other design professions such as landscape architecture, engineering, urban planning, interior design or other design-related background; one contractor or developer; and two residents, according to the city’s website.
