Cave Creek to hire new town attorney in special meeting

Posted

The Cave Creek Town Council will hold a special meeting on Wednesday to discuss the hiring of a new town attorney.

Bill Sims, the current town attorney, is retiring at the end of the year, prompting the town to search for a new attorney.

The selected firm will serve as Town Attorney, providing counsel to the Town Council, Town Manager, departments, boards, and commissions.

The process has been underway for a number of months, and on Oct. 1, Town Council members met with three firms that were selected for interviews for the position.

The council met with Burch & Cracchiolo, and assigned attorney Andrew Miller; Gust Rosenfeld P.L.C. and assigned attorney Andrew McGuire; and Pierce Coleman PLLC and assigned attorney Matthew Podrack to determine the best fit for the council.

The town is seeking an attorney and firm that will possess strong background representing Arizona municipalities, understand the Council-Manager form of government, and believes in the Town values of integrity, neutrality, transparency, and responsible use of public resources.

Burch & Cracchiolo and Pierce Coleman PLLC have a proposed annual amount of $180,000, while Gust Rosenfeld P.L.C. is proposing $132,000. The Town’s adopted budget includes $200,000 for Town Attorney legal services.
