Mesa Public Schools revises current budget up based on enrollment

Posted

The Mesa Public Schools board revised the district’s fiscal year 2023-24 budget, according to its May 14 meeting.

According to a presentation, this revision came in the form of a $219,084 increase to the maintenance and operation budget limit between December 2023 and May 2024. This 0.04% increase raised the limit from $531,376,224 to $531,595,308. Capital outlay and classroom site fund budget limits remained the same.

The school board presentation said this revision occurred due to changes in average daily membership between December 2023 and May 2024.

Average daily membership means the total enrollment of fractional students and full-time students, minus withdrawals, of each school day through the first 100 days in session, according to Arizona Revised Statutes.

In December 2023, the unweighted average daily membership in the district was 52,262. In May 2024, that amount was 52,055. It was a decrease of 207.

The 2023-24 Fiscal Year for Mesa Public Schools ends on June 30.
