A new series 6 bar liquor license is being sought for Super Skies Dining & Dance Hall, 945 E. Scenic St. in Apache Junction.
The Apache Junction City Council voted unanimously Aug. 15 to recommend that the Arizona Department of Liquor License and Control approve the liquor license. Councilman Darryl Cross voted by phone.
An interim liquor license permit was issued on July 10 and is to expire on Oct. 23.
The building used to house Superstition Skies Bar and Grill, which had a fire last year.
“A fire did cause some structural damage in the last year. All the permits were properly pulled and repairs and inspections have been approved,” City Clerk Jennifer Pena said at the council meeting.
The Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control received the liquor license application on July 10 and the Apache Junction City Clerk’s Office received the application on July 17, Deputy City Clerk Evie McKinney said in a memo to the council.
“Correspondence related to inspections of the premises for safety and code-compliant matters have been received from the Apache Junction Police Department, Building and Safety Division, Planning and Zoning Department, and the Superstition Fire and Medical District,” she said. “All four entities find compliance with the inspection requirements and recommend approval.”
