Median curbs will be added in October and November for Apache Trail between Ironwood Drive and Ocotillo Drive as part of a $380,000 contract approved recently by the Apache Junction City Council.
The council voted unanimously Aug. 15 on a consent agenda with other items to approve a contract with Viasun Corp. for $345,520.75 plus a 10% contingency for unforeseen change orders in the amount of $35,552.07 for a total project cost not to exceed $380,072.82.
The project is to help with drainage on Apache Trail, Public Works Manager Shane Kiesow said in a memo to the council.
“The work involves the construction of cement concrete curbs around the medians to facilitate roadway drainage and protect landscape improvements planned for these median areas,” he said.
“The work would last for about two to three weeks planned for in the October-November 2023 timeframe. Work would occur during the daytime hours only with limited impacts to vehicular traffic lanes and no impacts expected to adjacent business entrances,” Kiesow said.
