Two members of the Apache Junction High School thespian troupe recently received superior ratings at the Central Regional Festival sponsored by the Educational Theatre Association.

Avery Fisher, a senior, received her award for her solo musical performance of “Pulled” from the Addams Family. Tiffany Hutcheson, a sophomore, garnered her recognition in costume construction for an ensemble created for the character Christine in Phantom of the Opera.

“Drama, set production and costume design are more than fun classes,” said Dr. Christopher Lineberry, principal of AJHS. “They help build self esteem, enhance creativity and help students work with others in a collaborative setting. We are very proud of Avery and Tiffany for their achievements, as well as helping to shine a spotlight on the great things we do at Apache Junction High School.”

Paul Lanphear has been the drama instructor at AJHS since 2002. Over the past 20 years he has built a successful and popular program. For more information go to ajusd.org.

Registration is being accepted at all Apache Junction Unified School District schools. You can follow the district on social media on Facebook @ajusd43 or call 480-982-1110.
