Terracon, a geological engineering firm, gifted Arizona State University with a $50,000 endowment for one yearly student scholarship.
The funds were gifted to the school on July 24 for the scholarship to be awarded in the 2025-26 school year.
This scholarship will go to a student studying civil engineering at the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering and facing financial challenges. The scholarship has not been awarded yet.
Future recipients will be selected from candidates determined by ASU and Terracon’s Phoenix offices. The student will then be named the “Terracon Endowment Scholar.”
“The relationship of the Terracon local senior leadership with the ASU faculty provides the ability to identify excellent students to offer internships. Most of our interns from ASU are offered full-time employment upon their graduation,” said Ramon Padilla, geotechnical regional manager said in a statement.
Terracon hires six interns every year from ASU and also encourages staff to seek higher education and attend classes part time. With offices just miles from the Tempe campus, this makes employment and school accessible.
