Tempe to approve $6M construction contract for bike, pedestrian improvements

Tempe City Council is scheduled to decide whether or not to award a $6.7 million contract to Low Mountain Construction Inc. at its Oct. 12 meeting for bike and pedestrian improvements along Country Club Way.

The full project was first identified for a Maricopa Association of Governments design assistance grant in 2016 and was awarded $82,500 to create a project assessment report and design concepts, according to the city’s project website.

In 2017, public meetings were held to gather feedback and to develop a cost estimate for the project. Additional federal grant funding was secured, and construction is expected to begin fall 2023.
