Tempe Public Library presents panel on Black woman, human rights

Join Tempe Public Library for a discussion on April 10 about how Black women in Tempe and beyond have led the way in supporting human rights.

This free panel discussion will be hosted and moderated by Dr. Felicia Durden with Dr. Stanlie James, author of "Practical Audacity: Black Women and International Human Rights," a city release stated. 

Panelists include:

  • Tempe City Councilmember Berdetta Hodge
  • Lisa Groom – Community Affairs Specialist for Tempe Police Departmemt and founder of the Tempe Black Employee Alliance
  • Octavia Harris – Executive Director for the Tempe Community Council
  • Dr. Velicia McMillan Humes – Chief Diversity Officer for the City of Tempe

There will be an opportunity for audience question and answer. If anyone has purchased a copy of Dr. James' book, she will sign them at the end of the event, according to the release.
