Tempe Marketplace ushers in holiday weekend with Dog Fun Festival

A free event including dog races, pet photo opportunities, games and prizes will take place 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at Tempe Marketplace, 2000 E. Rio Salado Parkway.

It all happens under a covered area complete with cooling misters, and it is free.

The Arizona Humane Society is the beneficiary of proceeds from the event, organizers said in a release.

There will be dog races for wieners, corgis and senior pets, an obstacle course, watermelon ice cones for animals and alcoholic beverages for adults.
