Tempe firefighters rescue driver who nearly hit them

Firefighters from Tempe Fire Station No. 3 were playing a game of pickleball between calls on March 12 when a car came speeding through their pickleball court, hit a fire hydrant and then crashed into several parked cars, which belonged to fire staff at that station.

The firefighters immediately ran to the car and jumped into action, rescuing the driver, providing immediate medical treatment and making sure the situation was safe, according to a city release.

"The firefighters went from running for their lives to running to help the driver. This shows the professionalism of these firefighters," Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Interim Chief Darrell Duty stated in the release.

The driver was then transported to a local hospital. Watch a video of the incident here
