OPINION — I read the article in the Tempe independent for May/June 2026, volume 36 issue 806 concerning the City Council vote for a new tax plan.
While I am generally in favor of tax increases for the proposed usages of this tax, it would have helped me to form a final opinion about my position in regard to this tax if the article had stated what the new total tax burden would be.
The article mentions a 0.5% increase, which does not include sales taxes on groceries, but it does not say what the new total percentage tax would be.
