The Mesa City Council voted to approve the use of a cooperative contract for surveillance cameras to use at city parks at their recent council meeting.
The vote passed 7-0 Aug. 18. The council approved the use of a Omnia Partners cooperative contract with Carashoft Technology group to deploy a surveillance camera system at designated city parks.
The system used will be Gridless Power, which was picked out of two options that the Mesa Police Department tested, according to council documents.
“The Mesa Police Department conducted field tests of both Gridless Power and Flock Safety solutions, ultimately selecting Gridless Power for its superior performance and value,” council documents stated. “Their system offers the most comprehensive coverage and integrates seamlessly with the city’s existing Genetec platform, ensuring real-time transmission of CCTV footage to the Real Time Crime Center.”
The contract will run from Aug. 18 to Dec. 31, 2027. The contract is valued at $457,000 and is funded by the public safety sales tax revenue.
