Kyrene Aprende to show a sensory-friendly ‘Mean Girls Jr.’

Posted

Kyrene Aprende Middle School’s Jaguar Players present their second annual sensory-friendly performance, “Mean Girls Jr.,” on Sunday, April 28, at 2 p.m.

The engagement will be presented in a relaxed, sensory-friendly setting to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all featuring an ASL interpreter, modifications to avoid startling noises and overstimulating visual components and higher-than-normal lights to ensure audience members can see one another, a district release explained.

“Mean Girls Jr.” is open to the public and will take place at Kyrene Aprende Middle School, 777 N. Desert Breeze Blvd.

Jaguar Players is an after-school drama program at Kyrene Aprende Middle School that opened its first season during the fall semester of the 2013-14 school year, the release stated.

Since that first production, students have tackled plays and musicals including Rogers & Hammerstein’s “Cinderella,” “Bye, Bye Birdie” and other classics such as “Rock of Ages,” Disney’s “High School Musical” and more.
