Starting in May, the Grand Canal Connection Project will continue east and begin work on Lake View Drive.
Crews will start work on a new accessible multi-use path with a rest node and new landscaping along the current staircase entry to Lake View Drive off the parking lot under State Route 202.
The staircase, a portion of the sidewalk and the concrete path will be closed until late summer 2026, access will be maintained through detours listed below.
The anticipated timeline is from May through August 2026 with work hours from 5 a.m to 5 p.m. with concrete pours starting at 4 a.m.
The Grand Canal Connection Project seeks to connect the Grand Canal, Rio Salado North Bank and Crosscut Path by creating multiple paths from Priest Drive to the Crosscut Canal, creating a continuous multi-modal connection between Tempe and Phoenix.
