Teachers have until Feb. 28 to apply for a Salt River Project education grant to help them enhance learning in math, science, engineering, technology and social studies.
SRP officials said two opportunities for funding are available:
STEM Learning Grants by SRP provide funding up to $5,000 per school for projects and programs that incorporate teaching strategies in math and science and meet state-mandated competencies.
History and Social Science Grants by SRP support “the enrichment and enhancement of classroom instruction in the disciplines of history, geography, civics government and economics and meet state-mandated performance standards.” Up to $2,500 is available per educator.
SRP contributes more than $2 million to education annually through various initiatives, including grant programs, free professional development workshops and resources for educators, officials at the Tempe-based utility said.
All educators in the Phoenix metropolitan area, Pinal, Gila and Yavapai counties and Page, as well as educators in the areas of St. Johns and the Navajo Generating Station are eligible to apply, according to SRP.
