Tempe Town Lake is Arizona’s second-most visited public attraction. The more than 2-mile long lake in the heart of Tempe features a system of paths allow people to walk, jog, bike and more along its edges. It’s also a great place for electric, wind and human-powered boats.

Construction on the Kyrene, Roosevelt, Farmer Bike/Ped Improvements Project is anticipated to start on Jan. 20. The project area is between University Drive and Baseline Road and will use a combination of Farmer Avenue, Roosevelt Street, and Kyrene Road.
Proposed improvements include a cycle-track (two-way separated bike facility), buffered bike lanes, wayfinding signage, street crossing treatments, new sidewalks, ADA directional ramps, and a new pedestrian signal at Western Canal and Baseline Road. The project is set to wrap up in the fall.
Construction will begin on the south end progressing north and when complete, the improvements will provide a low-stress, multi-modal route linking Kiwanis Park, Clark Park and Downtown Tempe. These improvements will not impact on-street parking in front of homes, trash collection, or reduce the number of travel lanes.
The project will also realign the current ‘Handlebars’ BIKEiT Bike Boulevard route and provide connections to regional bicycle and pedestrian facilities, like the Western Canal Multi-use Path.
