As a child from Ohio, Michael Battle had dreams of being a business owner.
Now, his security business, Battle Protection Agency, has grown to more than 50 employees and has gained attention from Arizona figures like Brandon Rafi and Sen. Ruben Gallego.
The company’s previous office was at 1400 E. Southern Ave. in Tempe. Now, the company is at 2800 S. Rural Road in Tempe and is enjoying its new space, which allows it to offer more training and grow the business. Battle hopes to reach all 50 states in the next 10 years.
BPA is able to serve groups of all sizes with armed and unarmed security, event patrol and personal protection.
Battle says he’s most proud of his family, and not just his relatives.
“It feels surreal to me. Sometimes I’m not able to rationalize what’s going on and think ‘You did this, you built this,” he said.
Velma Trayham, CEO of the Black Chamber of Arizona, said Battle’s work and tenacity was something she admired and that she was proud of his work.
“It was so powerful when I learned what Battle was doing here,” she said.
The Black Chamber works to help employers become employer firms and help them continue to create jobs for the community. With the growth of the business and the new facility, BPA is hiring more positions and creating new jobs for Arizonans.
