3-story home with balconies planned in Tempe

A single-story house built in the 1960s is to be demolished and replaced with a new three-story, single-family house with balconies in the Jen Tilly Terrace subdivision southwest of Spence Avenue and Bonarden Lane in Tempe.

The Tempe Development Review Commission is to discuss a use permit for the building at 1408 S. Bonarden Lane at a study session at 5:30 p.m. and a meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, in the City Council Chambers, 31 E. Fifth St.

A five-bedroom, six-bathroom, 2,675-square-foot residence with an attached two-car garage is planned. It will be under 37 feet tall from grade, which is below the allowable building height of up to 40 feet, according to a written Tempe staff report.
