We must be vigilant about Loop 303 interchange proposals

Posted

The plans for the proposed Loop 303 interchange are far from being finalized, but the location and design could become locked in concrete if we do not keep our eyes and ears open, and speak up!

About 20 years ago, I led an effort by our Sun City West Governing Board which led to a vote of the community that resoundingly rejected a connection of Deer Valley Road with the 303.

My concern and that of the community was the high volume of traffic that would occur. As result of our vote, Ms. Jan Brewer, then chair of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, opposed the connection. We won!

We must be vigilant as any interchange will have substantial impact on our relatively quiet, but increasingly affected by cut-through traffic, community.
