Tremble Clefs is a therapeutic singing group for individuals with Parkinson’s disease, their family members, and care givers.
Speech and voice related challenges, such as slurred speech, reduced speech volume, and monotone quality are common symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.
Tremble Clefs provides evidence-based music therapy programs that include group singing, voice exercises, music-assisted movements, and breathing exercises to address diverse needs of individuals.
The primary goal is to mitigate voice loss by improving voice volume and speech through singing and targeted voice exercises in a supportive community environment, ultimately enhancing the quality of life.
No prior musical background is required to join Tremble Clefs.
Tremble Clefs originated as a Parkinson’s support group in Scottsdale in 1994.
In 2008, the Muhammad Ali Parkinson’s Center contracted Sun Joo Lee, a board-certified music therapist, to establish a music therapy group for individuals with Parkinson’ in Sun City, which later became the West Side Tremble Clefs.
In 2019, Tremble Clefs became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and has since expanded its service to Mesa and Sun Lakes.
The program currently operates through four geographically distinct groups in the Phoenix metropolitan area: Original Tremble Clefs in Scottsdale, West Side Tremble Clefs in Sun City, Sun Lakes Tremble Clefs in Sun Lakes, and Mesa Tremble Clefs in Mesa.
