The city of Surprise is kicking off summer swim lessons, featuring a range of improvements designed to better serve the community.
This year brings a new swim location, expanded class offerings, updated pricing, additional lesson times and a streamlined registration process.
The new process allows families to simply register for the session location, date and time and age group. Registrants will not select a class level.
On the first day, certified instructors will evaluate each child’s swimming ability using Starfish Swimming benchmarks, ensuring appropriate placement.
Swim lesson schedules are available at surpriseaz.gov/SwimLessons.
Session 1 registration is open for residents and will be open May 15 for non-residents.
The summer season runs from May 27 through July 30, with five two-week sessions offered at Surprise Aquatic Center, Hollyhock Community Pool and Oasis Swim Center.
Lessons are 30 minutes and take place Monday through Thursday at various times. Saturday lessons are also available at Surprise Aquatic Center.
Participants can choose from Parent Tot classes, group swim lessons, adaptive lessons, dive school and private swim lessons. Group lessons are available for youth participants only, while private lessons are open to all, including adults.
Fees for group lessons are $30 (resident) and $50 (non-residents). Private lessons are $45 (residents) and $65 (non-residents).
