When new Ottawa-Arizona football coach Reilly Murphy visited Surprise to check out the city during his interview, he stopped by a youth baseball field. While there, a few people noticed him looking around.
“Before I knew it, I was having a barbecue with about eight people, and I felt the welcomeness of Surprise,” Murphy said during a news conference introducing him as the second coach in the school’s history.
Murphy is taking over a winning team from Mike Nesbitt, who left this spring for a job at NCAA Division I Houston Baptist.
