Surprise Tennis Complex to host several USTA tournaments

Posted

The Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex, 14469 W. Paradise Lane, is playing host to approximately 3,000 players competing in several United States Tennis Association League National Championships.

The first tournament was the USTA Southwest 55 and Over Section Championship last weekend at the tennis center.

Teams of players 55 and up from across the Southwest region (Arizona, New Mexico and western Texas) vied for the title in skill levels ranging from 3.0 to 4.5.

The winners of this event secured an automatic bid to the USTA League National Championship event held later in the fall, representing the USTA Southwest Section.

The USTA League National Championships, the largest adult competitive tennis league in the country, includes the winners of each of the 17 sectionals across the U.S.

The schedule for the upcoming championships will continue Oct. 18 through 20 (adult 18 and over 4.0-men and women), Oct. 25 to 27 (adult 40 and over 4.5-men and women), Nov. 1-3 (mixed doubles 18 and over-6.0 / 8.0 / 10.0) and Nov. 8 to 10 (adult 18 and over 4.5-men and women).

For a complete list of events and match schedules, visit the USTA League National Championships tournament page.

Admission is free.

Open court availability may be limited or not available due to tournaments and other special events.
