Surprise student Cooper Yackley tackles message of hope

Shadow Ridge High School varsity football player Cooper Yackley helps to pass a message of hope to Surprise students during Teen Suicide Prevention Awareness Month in September.

Yackley joins a team of more than 60 students from nearly 40 high schools across Arizona to participate in the 8th annual Teen Lifeline Messages of Hope campaign. According to a media release, he stood beside teammates, many of whom  are students  from rival schools, during a June recording session at North Canyon High School in Phoenix.

He represents the only school in Surprise selected to record public service announcement-style videos encouraging classmates to seek help when they are struggling, so they are not facing life’s challenges alone, the release noted.
