Surprise resident asks Congress to prioritize cancer issues

Surprise resident Amy Graham recently met with Rep. Paul Gosar in Washington, D.C. to ask lawmakers and their staff to support policies for funding increases to prioritize cancer research and prevention programs.

Graham, who got involved with cancer advocacy after losing three siblings to cancer, was among volunteer advocates to travel with a group from the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network.

They met with the state’s congressional delegation as part of the ACS CAN’s annual Leadership Summit and Lobby Day. According to a press release, Graham asked Gosar to co-sponsor the Clinical Trial Modernization Act, which would remove financial barriers to accessing clinical trials, particularly for people living in rural areas.
