Surprise parks master plan needs resident input

City wants public feedback to shape future of rec space

The city of Surprise is about to transform more than 3,500 acres surrounding McMicken Dam into what it calls a “regional hub” for new trails, wildlife corridors, passive recreational spaces and conservation areas.

That’s good news for a city short on overall park space — especially one as steadily as Surprise — and great news for residents who have ached for more parks, fields and open space for years.

Now, the city is asking residents to help shape its updated parks master plan that will shape the city’s overall vision of future park space.
