Surprise offers tips as monsoon season starts

City helps residents stay safe at home, on road, in floods

With monsoon season officially starting on Monday, the city of Surprise offered tips on how to get through the potentially dangerous season.

The monsoon is typically observed from June 15 through Sept. 30 and often brings increased thunderstorm and lightning activity along with high winds, dust storms and flash floods.

While the severity of weather can vary each season, Surprise residents are encouraged to have a monsoon safety plan to prepare for all possible weather-related occurrences.
