Surprise music fest adds country acts to lineup

Headliner Ernest has three singers added to show

Posted

The lineup for the Out of the Park Music Fest is starting to grow bigger.

Not long after announcing headliner Ernest, a rising country music star, the Surprise music festival to end the spring training season revealed it will also include George Birge, Louie TheSinger and Lauren Watkins.

Plus, city officials said more acts are still going to be added for the March 22 festival at Mark Coronado Park, 15960 N. Bullard Ave.

The city, which is producing its second festival of this kind, has planned an evening portion highlighting country stars, while the daytime portion will bring more of a multi-genre mix of national bands and local artists.

Last year’s inaugural Out of the Park Music Fest brought in 6,000 fans with acts such as Chase Rice and Paul Russell.

For the 2025 edition, general admission tickets for Surprise residents are $30 until Feb. 28. The price will go up to $40 after that date. The price for non-residents is also $40.

To take advantage of the special resident deal, which is verified by billing zip code, attendees must use the code MUSICFEST25! to redeem it.

Birge, a Texas-born songwriter, is a TikTok influencer who sings about the funny side of country music. His viral song “Beer Beer, Truck Truck,” led to a record deal with Records Nashville. He finished 2024 with two No. 1 hits on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, “Cowboy Songs” and “Mind on You.”

Louie TheSinger is a Mexican-American country music sensation who’s also from Texas. According to a Surprise city news release, “Louie TheSinger’s songs are a representation of his roots while still bringing something new and fresh to the country music scene.”

Festival attendees can expect to hear some of Louie’s most popular songs, include “EYA” and “Down Here.” The latter song features rapper Paul Wall. Louie is also scheduled to play at the Stagecoach festival on the grounds of Coachella in late April.

Watkins is a rising country star who has opened for stars such as Morgan Wallen, Riley Green and Zach Top.

The country upstarts will join Ernest, who is the announced headliner.

With hits like “Flower Shops,” “Would If I Could” and “Feet Wanna Run,” Ernest is a two-time ACM Award nominee, two-time CMA Triple Play Award winner and 2022/2023 Variety Hitmaker.

The singer/songwriter has authored 11 No. 1 hits. For his latest album, “Nashville, Tennessee,” he was able to rope in collaborations with noted giants such as Morgan Wallen, Lainey Wilson, Jelly Roll, Hardy and more.

The music event is scheduled to run from 2 to 10 p.m. at the park, site of festivals that ended the last two spring training seasons in Surprise.

The festival will also include a beer garden, food trucks, yard games and activities for the whole family.

For those who want an added experience at the festival, VIP tickets, which give perks of a dedicated viewing area, catering, drinks, private restrooms and parking, are available for $100. Those sold out last year.

For fans who want to go to the baseball game earlier in the day between the Texas Rangers and Kansas City Royals, a ticket bundle is available for both, starting at $38.

Tickets will also be available online or at the Surprise Stadium Box Office the day of the festival online for $50.
