The White Tanks Mountain Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution welcomed Patricia Brusha, founder of local nonprofit Purse-Impressions, to its January membership meeting.
Brusha started Purse-Impressions after tragically losing her daughter to addiction in 2019, creating an organization that gathers and donates purses, handbags and backpacks to help those in recovery carry their personal items with dignity — giving them something more than a standard-issue plastic bag as they seek a fresh start.
“Patricia’s inspiring story of compassion and empowerment is lifting up thousands of people in recovery across the country today,” said WTM DAR Regent Tammy Dollar. “Over almost five years, Purse-Impressions has made over 7,000 donations, supporting women, men and even children in recovery locations in Arizona, Colorado, Florida and Canada.”

Brusha noted in her presentation that men and children are just as impacted and in need of support. Hundreds of children live with their mothers in rehabilitation centers; and many of the men in recovery are U.S. veterans.
Purse-Impressions has a boutique located at 7171 E. Cave Creek Road in Cave Creek where lesser-used, name-brand purse donations are sold to purchase even more purses, backpacks, personal hygiene items and children’s items to donate.
Brusha thanked the White Tank Mountains Chapter for its holiday donations of toys and personal hygiene items, which made a difference to so many lives.
The next WTM DAR meeting will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1 at Happy Trails Resort, 17200 W. Bell Road, with a guest speaker from the Western Archeological and Conservation Center in Tucson.
