Surprise Girl Scout one of 31 in Valley to win Gold Award
Posted
A Surprise Girl Scout is one of 31 local Scouts to win the Gold Award this year, the most prestigious honor in Girl Scouting.
Haley Helman, of Surprise, was recognized for a dog agility equipment project.
The Gold Award recognizes Girl Scouts in grades 9 to 12 and their service projects to address important issues in their community and develop sustainable solutions.
“Gold Award Girl Scouts identify everyday issues around them or draw inspiration from personal experiences to create meaningful change as project leaders,” said Mary Mitchell, co-CEO of the Arizona Cactus-Pine Council. “We are proud to provide a platform for them to launch their own vision of community service.”
Other Gold Award winners came from all over the Valley.
The Girl Scouts-Arizona Cactus-Pine Council serves over 12,000 girls in grades kindergarten through 12th in more than 90 communities across central and northern Arizona.
