Surprise council wants property taxes rate lowered again

For the second consecutive year, Surprise residents could be looking at paying a lower property tax rate in the next fiscal year.

Earlier this year, the city council requested a drop in the city’s primary property tax to $0.5534 per $100 of assessed valuation from $0.5693 per $100.

The average homeowner will save about $4 a year in property taxes under the rate the council plans to levy on June 17.
