Pratt broke his own school record with a time of 38.06 seconds to earn the spot in nationals.

Pratt plans to attend Howard University this fall, where he will pursue a master’s degree in architecture. He will also compete on the school’s track and field team.

“I love the hurdles; the fact it not only takes physical discipline, but mental discipline,” Pratt said. “So, working hard physically and also honing that form to get over hurdles quickly.”

Pratt said his success can be attributed to a strong support system, including his family, coaches and teammates.

“First and foremost, I couldn’t have done it without God,” Pratt said. “My parents have pushed me and given me all the resources I need. Coaches have given me the ability to be available and get all the practice that I need, and my team has pushed me to keep going and to work hard.”

Highland Prep is a STEM-focused college-preparatory high school at 15600 W. Hearn Road. Contact the school office at 623-300-8385.
