Surprise buys more land for public safety

40-acre parcel is next to 30 acres council bought earlier this year

A couple months after buying 30 acres in northwest Surprise for a new public safety facility, the city council signed off on purchasing an additional 40 acres right next to it.

With an eye on the future, the council on April 15 approved a deal with Surprise 40 to buy the land for $7 million to house future public safety and essential city services.

“It is important for us to get in front of this stuff,” Fire-Medical Chief Brenden Espie told the council before its vote.
