The four city council members will take a ceremonial oath during the Jan. 7 city council meeting at City Hall, 16000 N. Civic Center Plaza.
It will be Sartor’s first meeting since replacing Skip Hall, who retired after 16 years on the council, the last five as mayor. His first meeting in charge will be light with only three items on the regular agenda, and two of those are to approve liquor licenses.
The only item of consequence is possible action on an annexation of approximately 5.41 acres located south of the Central Arizona Project and west of the future 251st alignment.
There will be no work session before the regular meeting. After the meeting, the newly elected leaders and Duffy will be honored with a reception in the Mayor’s Attrium at City Hall.
Sartor has already put his stamp on business in Surprise. The new mayor announced he will host a series of roundtables with business leaders in the city throughout the year.
