Murphy’s offseason arrival was the big news on campus after seven successful seasons under former coach Mike Nesbitt.
The new OUAZ coach has directed several high-flying offenses as a player and coach, which Spirit fans were used to under Nesbitt, who left to take a coordinator job at NCAA Division I Houston Baptist.
OUAZ will host four games at Spirit Field, 14440 W Tierra Buena Lane, starting Saturday, Sept. 6. The Spirit are on a drive their first-ever postseason win this season.
Tickets for each game range from $9 to $28 for each game before tax.
Reserved seating tickets are either $21 or $28, depending on whether it is a bleacher back or a chairback. General admission tickets are $16, but those are first-come, first-served and do not guarantee a seat in the stands.
Children under 12, seniors 55 and older and military can be admitted for only $9.
General admission tickets include the standing room only areas in the plaza along the fence line. OUAZ advised fans with GA tickets to arrive early as gates open an hour before the games, all of which start at 7 p.m.
Concessions and a food truck will be available at the game.
The HomeTown Fan mobile app and website is handling the tickets for all OUAZ events this year via OUAZSpirit.com/tickets. Fans should be aware there will not be any sales at the gate.
Fans can either print a copy of the ticket or have it on a mobile device. All tickets will be scanned at entry.
Here is a look at tickets and scheduling for other fall sports at OUAZ:
Women’s Volleyball
Eleven home matches — and one day-long home invitational — are on the schedule at Faith Arena for a team that went 16-9 last year in coach Liv Afusia’s first season.
Graduate outside hitter Lauren Wamsley, a native of Cave Creek, is back after earning all-Great Southwest Athletic Conference first team honors a year ago.
The school is looking to return to the NAIA national tournament for the first time since 2021.
OUAZ tips off the year Aug. 27 against Westcliff and will open conference play at home Sept. 6 against Embry-Riddle. Senior Night is scheduled for the Nov. 7 match against rival Arizona Christian.
Another highlight is the OUAZ WVB Invitational, which features a round-robin with Simpson University and Haskell Indian Nations University on Friday, Aug. 29.
General admission seats are $6, including fees, for all the regular matches.
An all-day pass to the OUAZ WVB Invitational is $11 for those 13 and older, while those younger are admitted free.
The invitational will feature three matches at 1, 3:30 and 6 p.m.
Men’s Soccer
Like the women’s volleyball team, men’s soccer has an 11-match home schedule, starting Thursday, Aug. 21 against Nelson (Arizona).
And, similarly, general admission seats are $6, including fees, for all matches.
OUAZ will stay in Surprise for a five-match homestand to open the year.
The schedule runs through Thursday, Oct. 23 when rival Arizona Christian pays a visit to Surprise.
Senior Night will be held early this year. The team will celebrate its departing players on Sept. during a game against Justice.
The Spirit ended last year with three consecutive ties to end the season 8-8-3. It was the first non-winning season in team history.
Women’s Soccer
OUAZ’s women’s soccer team will host 10 matches at Spirit Field, including the first two coming soon.
Like the men, all seats are $6, including fees, for all matches.
The Spirit kick off their home slate with back-to-back non-conference matchups against Carroll (Aug. 30) and Nelson AZ (Sept. 4).
Conference play will begin at Spirit Field when Benedictine Mesa comes calling on Sept. 11.
