Popera Concert brings opera, classical, Broadway songs

Opera, classical and Broadway music is making an appearance at The Grand in March.

Robert Walling and Kristyne Olson are again bringing their Popera Concert at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 8 at the Sonoran Plaza Ballroom, 19726 N. Remington Drive.

This concert features The Grand Music Club’s vocalists and instrumentalists as well as three Music Club scholarship recipients from Glendale Community College, performing both opera, classical crossover and Broadway selections.

Some of the classic music featured include romantic arias and duets from Puccini’s “Madame Butterfly,” Franz Lehar’s “Das Land des Lächelns (The Land of Smiles),” and Gilbert and Sullivan’s “The Pirates of Penzance.”

Violin/piano and flute/piano instrumental duets as well as favorite Broadway songs from “Carousel” and “West Side Story.”

This is a one-night concert with reserved floor and tiered seating. Tickets are $20 each and are available at liveatgrand.com, grandmusicclub.com or the Activities Desk, which is open from 8 a.m to 4 p.m. weekdays.

A cash bar begins at 6 p.m. and doors open a half-hour later.
