Lucille Margaret Holstein

Lucille departed this life to be with the Lord on Monday, February 21st surrounded by family.
Lucille was the daughter of Ed C. and Clara (Hohlt) Beckmann and was born November 17th, 1932, on their family farm in Campbell Hill, Il. She graduated from Trico High School in 1950, and from Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, MO. Jn 1953. While living and working in St. Louis, Lucille met Bob Holstein who was then a student at Concordia Lutheran Seminary. They fell in love and were married on June 8th, 1958. The day after Bob’s graduation from the seminary. During her nursing career she worked in various capacities and various areas of nursing in St. Louis, MO, Hinton, Alberta, Red Bud, Il, and the Phoenix area, retiring from full time nursing in 1995. Lucile is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Atlanta, GA) and her son Robert (Phoenix, AZ). She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Roy and recently her husband Robert.
Lucille enjoyed sewing, making quilts for the needy and her family, as well as making cross stitch pictures. Lucille was also skilled at crocheting and knitting. Her first knitting project was an outdoor jacket to keep newlywed husband warm when they moved to Canada to serve in Bob’s first assignment as a newly ordained minister. Lucille loved to play cards and spend time with her family. Lucille was active in all the churches served by her husband, Bob. Together with him, they enjoyed traveling in their RV, and visiting 49 of the 50 states (they missed Delaware). They were also fond of cruises and enjoyed international travel.
The memorial service will be held at 11am on March 23rd at Crown of Life Lutheran church, Sun City West. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. John’s Lutheran School.
